More than 300 street campaigns and more than 100 public meetings were held for 4 consecutive months to spread the message that the Vellore Fort Temple should be brought back to worship in 1981. The campaigns started from Kandili, Tirupattur, Natrampalli, Vandavasi, Seiyar, Tellaru, Sengam, Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts. Finally, at a public meeting held at the Vellore Fort Grounds, he said, “The fort and the Jalakandeswarar Temple belong to the Hindus, and we condemn the Central Government's Archaeological Department for controlling the temple in the name of maintenance. The Jalakandeswarar Temple was built over 600 years ago by the Hindu kings Thimma Reddy and Bommi Reddy. Some houses were built at the back of the temple for the servants of the temple and some houses for the stay of the civil servants. During the invasion of Tipu Sultan, the Vellore Fort and the Jalakandeswarar Temple came under Muslim control. The temple was looted. The sculptures were damaged. The lingam in the sanctum sanctorum was labeled and thrown into the lake. Some of the brave devotees of Sattvacharya found Li Tai and took him to their area and built a small temple where they worshiped with devotion. The same situation persisted during the subsequent white rule.
The fort is also a bastion of soldiers and a temple Used as stables and ammunition depots.
After the independence of the country, various attempts were made by the elders of the city of Vellore to restore the fort temple.
The struggle now being declared by the Hindu Munnani is a continuation of such great efforts.
In his attempts to bring the fort temple back to worship, Thirumuruka. The effort made by the Kripananda Warriyar Swamiji will be remembered in the history of Vellore.
The people of Vellore then raised one lakh rupees and handed it over to the Kripananda Warriyar Swami. Kripananda Warriyar Swami went to Delhi and stayed there for several days, then met the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and the Union Minister of Education and Archeology and made a serious effort to get the permission of the Union Government.
But the Central Government did not listen to the Kripananda Variyar Swami request. Then Kripananda Warriyar Swami returned home with grief.
They have returned one lakh rupees given by the people. The Warrior Hall near the Vellore tollgate was built with that money.
Then in February 1981, a District Collector meeting took place. Rama with District Collector exchanged views about Sami Dedication at Vellore Fort.
In the first week of March 1981, Veerappa again met the Collector. More than 50 street vendors were killed He met and kept them ready.
But the Jalakandeswarar temple became a tent for social enemies. All the atrocities took place there.
