Devotional Power on Shivratri - 1993
In the Kanchipuram district, in the suburbs of Chennai, numerous Shiva temples were in a state of disrepair without light and worship. Many temple lands and buildings sprouted into churches and mosques. It was decided to hold a Shivalaya procession similar to the one held in Kanyakumari on Maha Shivaratri in March 1993 for the purpose of getting people to come to the temple for worship and to protect the temple property from encroachment.Starting from the Trisulam temple, the youth procession started with five Shiva torches.
The Hindu Munnani campaigned by visiting all the occupied Shiva temples and handing out leaflets detailing the temple's specialties and Shiva properties to the devotees there.Shivaratri Art Festival was held at Vidya Vidya on behalf of the Hindu Art Literary Munnani. A street meeting was held at the entrance of each temple. To welcome the youth who were running in each temple, lamplight puja, program, bhajan, religious sermon etc. were conducted in each temple. It is noteworthy that in this way Hindu families are united and become pious and powerful.
