1996 Slaughterhouse closed
The foundation stone was laid in 1996 at Ganapathy Palayam near Pollachi in collaboration with the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Government of Tamil Nadu.A project worth Rs 100 crore was launched to slaughter 1000 cows daily by machine at the slaughterhouse and export them to Arab countries.
Against this, A campaign march was carried out from village to village in Coimbatore and Pollachi districts. The popular uprising turned into a massive protest.The Tamil Nadu government abandoned the massacre due to hatred and opposition to the government caused by the popular uprising caused by the Hindu Munnani's campaign.
